The Square developer platform enables developers to build useful tools that help sellers scale and grow their businesses. While Square has become known primarily for its payments and point-of-sale solutions, there’s so much more. Today, we have APIs that span across every aspect of a business, including customer solutions such as Invoices, Gift Cards, Loyalty, Team Management, Customers, and Labor.

This hackathon will give you a chance to utilize one or more of our customer point-of-sale APIs to build useful tools that help sellers scale and grow their business. Plus, you’re also free to use a wide array of the APIs available within the Square developer platform to build more robust apps and integrations–as long as you’re building with at least one of our customer point-of-sale APIs to be eligible for the hackathon. This competition will be judged on the creative uses of our customer point-of-sale APIs only; if you want to use multiple APIs to build your apps, go for it.

What to Build:

Build creative applications using at least one of Square’s featured APIs that improves the experience for sellers and/or their customers: Customers, Invoices, Labor, Loyalty, Team Management, and Gift Cards.

You can build for the web, mobile, or other platform, using your preferred programming language and at least one Square customer point-of-sale API. A pre-existing application may be submitted to the hackathon if it has been significantly updated during the submission period.

What to Submit:

Demo video. Your video should be around 3 minutes long and include a demo of your working application for the judges.  (Videos must be made publicly visible).

Access to your working application. Access must be provided to the working application for judging and testing by providing a link to a website, functioning demo, or a test build.

Complete submission form. Include all of the required fields on your Devpost submission form and your Square App ID, BEFORE the final deadline on November 22nd, 2021 at 5pm EDT.

Eligibility Note: Individuals, teams of individuals who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry who reside or are incorporated in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Ireland, Japan, France (new!), Spain (new!), or Canada (excluding Quebec). See rules for details.
